Assign User Permissions to Subfolders

So I’m setting up user permissions on our site, and in doing so have noticed we’re in dire need of the option to set user permissions on the *contents* of higher-level folder when setting that higher-level folder’s permissions.

i.e., I have a user who needs access to the root/admissions folder and all its subfolders. If /admissions has ten subfolders and each of them have five subfolders, I’m gonna be doing the same repetitive task all afternoon to set permissions for one person.

If you need me, I’ll be performing the same repetitive task all afternoon to set permissions for one person.

Hi Brian,

Cascading/Bulk Permission Assignment is a planned feature but not something in the immediate roadmap.

As an alternative option, if a section’s content can follow a separate workflow, you can apply Workflow in bulk to a section/folder. Some customers use that as a technique for handling permissions like this, placing users into certain roles on a specialized workflow and then bulk assigning the workflow.

It’s not bulk permission assignment but could be a work around.

Interesting, I hadn’t thought about that. May have to go that route soon. Thanks for telling me!
