loading controls on demand

hi all

i have a requirement where I need lots of editlive controls in a single editor. Currently, it seems that the system cannot cope with this as it crashes my browser when trying to edit a content item.

Tech support have suggested that there is a way to configure controls so that they are only loaded when the user clicks on them.

does anybody know where the documentation is that references this configuration. Or does anybody know how to do this?

On 6.5.2 this is set on by default. I believe in the prior versions this was the sys_editLiveDynamic control option for the individual fields in Workbench…

…but we use 5.7 and there appears to be no such control!!!
