Many revisions and slowness

We have a few pages that are updated multiple times a day (e.g home page, index pages), and it seems that the more the number of revisions on the page, the slower the page is to load (quick edit) and to preview in content explorer. We are currently making a new page with the same content, but this requires updating all rhythmyx links to the pages. Has anyone had an experience with a large number of revisions slowing down load time, and if so, what have you done?

Production server running RX5.6 on Unix, SQL Server DB

This is a known issue that was addressed in a patch for 5.6 and in later versions. The initial patch that included this was RP-05-09-0001.
