Is there a way to create Users group, add people and then apply that group to specific pages for editing access?
As opposed to adding separate users.
Hi Lloyd,
There is no way to do this. I’ve been asking for something similar to this since about 2012. Hopefully we will see it soon.
Hi Lloyd,
What is your overall goal for this? Are you trying to do something that the Workflow roles can’t handle?
You could add multiple users to a single role and then apply that role to a workflow assigned to a specific folder on your site or assets folder.
Thanks,
Casey
There are supervisors out there that want to know which individuals are editing the pages.
Oh, okay - you could use the Home screen search or use the Dashboard Pages by Status gadget to see what pages a specific user has edited last - or - you can search by workflow to see who last edited pages in that workflow.
What would be an ideal scenario for you to get them this information that they need?
If the people log in with the group’s credentials, how am going to know which user of the group did editing?
Oh, I see - if you use the roles to apply the workflow and assign users to a specific role, then you will have information at the user level as to who is editing what in Percussion.
Casey,
I will test this and get back to you.
Thank you,
L.
This still isn’t what I’m looking for.
I currently have five users to add to 19 pages. So, instead of one addition to each page, or 19 edits, I need to add five users per page, or 95 edits.
Are you apply user privileges at the folder level?
If so, that definitely takes the most steps. I would recommend using the Workflow in the tool instead.
Maybe it’s worth us jumping on a call to work through this? Let me know.
Thanks,
Casey
I would like a little hands-on. Not expecting to be in tomorrow: snow. How about sometime Friday?
Thanks,
L.
Hi Matt,
Lloyd and I were able to do what he needed using roles in the Workflow area of Percussion.
We talked through how using Workflows rather than adding Users at the folder level of a site is much more efficient.
Did you see if you are able to do what you are trying to do with a Workflow?
Thanks,
Casey
