Adding Metadata to the Navigation view

I’d like to know if there is a way to add metadata to the Navigation view of CM1. I have not been able to find a way to do this but wanted to run by the minds on the community. The reason for this is, we use a translation service for our site and it allows us to add and remove custom content and navigation on the translated sites by placing comment tags around content we want to modify. One of our sites would like to remove a few menu options and to do this we need to be able to add the comment tags to the menu items. Any ideas?

How familiar are you with JQuery? You maybe able to use it to add the comment tags around some of your code.
