There are several issues posted here in the community regarding the rich text editor (TinyMCE) which could be easily fixed by allowing admins to configure the editor. TinyMCE includes a very capable configuration system which would allow users to address the needs of their specific use cases. The editor as configured by CM1 does a decent job with pasted text but does a poor job of implementing css styles. Each shortcoming could be easily handled with a user configuration. Percussion’s position is that allowing users to configure the editor might break something and could cause problems when updating CM1.
If anyone wants specific use cases to support this just let me know. I can provide them. I suspect if you’ve used the Rich Text Widget, you’ve discovered some of your own.
Implementing a user configuration option should be rather simple and would let the product work for the customer instead of the customer having to implement work-arounds to address short-comings in the product.
