Need to see a historical view of a template to see where a change was made that has now deleted a lot of content on pages that use that template. Any way to do this?

We currently do not have revisions and versioning on templates. This is, however, a fantastic idea that I recommend you post as an idea!
A workaround is to put the appropriate widget back into the CORRECT region.
One of two things should occur. One being the content should snap back into place.If it does not, any of the pages that utilized this template should have an asset in the unused asset tray for you to drag back onto the widget.
