We want to have a seperate LDAP server to store user credentials, which will be used only by Rhythmyx applications. Is there a way for the user to change their password from Rhythmyx Content Explorer?

No, there isn’t.
Of course you could create an app that would change the ldap password and add a new “tab” in content explorer that will do what you want…the possibilities there are endless and are only limited to your creativity and programming. But I agree that the easy answer is the “no”.
