Field required in optional child table

Hi,
We have a Content Type that uses a child table. Rows in the child table are optional but if rows are inserted we want to have required field in the child table. If I only but the field “Required” and I don’t insert any row in the child table I catch an error when putting the item to public state.
How should I validate the required field in the child table and keep the child table optional ?
