Apparently the system makes calls to the server using verint.com:9980 and we have had a request from our translation services provider to have these calls made directly to verint.com. Is this possible?

These calls are for the dynamic functionality provided by the delivery tier services (DTS). What you could do is reconfigure the DTS connection URL to verint.com and then proxy the calls to the DTS services to port 9980. Below is a link to a document which covers the use of proxies (section 3)
