Refresh folder view in Content Explorer

Hello,

We have noticed that the refreshing of items in the main folder view pane in the 6.5.2 Content Explorer, is inconsistent and potentially confusing for users.

When you right-click on an item and select any available transition in the Workflow submenu, the view is refreshed immediately so that the state of the item is updated to reflect the change you just made to its status (its workflow state, its check-out-status, etc.) But if you do something that performs both a workflow transition and opens the item in a Content Editor pop-up window, the folder view is not refreshed. And, unless you refresh manually, when you right-click on the item again the options displayed remain as their were before (i.e. the wrong options.)

Take, for example, an item in a public state. If you right-click and choose Workflow > Move to Quick Edit it will immediately be updated and listed as being in the Quick Edit state. But if you right-click and choose Quick Edit it will appear as if it has remained in the Public state. If you edit the item and click the Save button, the view will then be updated. But if you change your mind, or you have a high-res monitor (or dual monitors) and can thus see both the Content Explorer window and the Content Editor pop-up window, it could confuse you.

This has been reported to technical support, and they concluded that it is not a bug but a feature, and suggested I post an idea suggstion here.

Thank you,

Andrew.

There is already a bug submitted for this issue. (RX-15183)
A simple workaround is associated with the bug.
“Manually edit the refreshHint property value for the menu action in RXMENUACTIONPROPERTIES. The first letter of the value should be uppercase followed by lowercase letters.”
