Viewing items selected in a sys_CheckBoxTree whilst viewing content in audit trail

When viewing content via the audit trail, our users are currently unable to see values they have selected in fields defined as sys_CheckBoxTree controls.

As you will see in the example attached, the Time Period field, which is a sys_CheckBoxGroup control appears when none of the values have been selected. However, the Regions and Languages fields, both of which are sys_CheckBoxTree controls do not appear at all even when values have been selected.

Is it possible to enable the view of selected items in a sys_CheckBoxTree control? I am sure we did implement this a long time ago on another project and involved amending the CE XML file, but this was in 5.6 (now on 6.5.2) and has since been removed.
